There has been all sorts of creative and functional ChatGPT uses for a recruiter’s workflow, but one slight inconvenience is the need to keep a tab open.  Not gonna lie, we’ve become pretty spoiled with technology.  But, now us whiny drama queens can ramp up the convenience factor to eleven by having ChatGPT always accessible as a chrome extension. The Halist AI ChatGPT Browser Extensions is a juicy way to keep your little robot helper along for the ride.

If you’re looking for some long winded write-up about this chrome extension’s bountiful features, you won’t find much here.  It’s pretty much just going to save you a tab and some hassle.  It also keeps a record of your recent searches, so feel free to minimize the window once it finishes its search.

One frustrating drawback, despite its convenience, is the inability to close the window mid-search.  The ChatGPT browser extension can’t handle being ignored while it talks to you.  So, if you want to keep your little AI buddy happy as a clam, keep the tiny window open whilst it chirps out an answer.

AI can help recruiters with Boolean, write email copy, find trends in data, and even write love stories…And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This new world of intelligence assisted work we live in is quite interesting, and this feels like just the beginning.

If you have any uses for ChatGPT that you think breaks the norm, feel free to comment on them below! We love talking geek.

Happy Hunting!

We all want to do cold outreach easier. Nobody wants to spend hours hunting down the perfect candidate when you can just cold blast 1000 developers some outreach and see who nibbles. That’s where this dirty trick comes into play. Mastering the tools of the trade is vital for any career, and when it comes to Xray, sourcing is no different. So, what’s this big mysterious technique to source developer emails?

It’s nothing too crazy. However, we are combining it with an interesting Chrome extension.  The gist of it is to create a fairly simple Google Xray string phrased like this:

site:github.com language:java AND “@gmail.com”

Like we said, nothing too crazy.

The fun part is when you add in this pretty neat Chrome Extension called Email Extractor. If you’re trying to speed up your headhunting, this puppy is a great tool to have in your belt. It will automatically comb through whatever page you are on and return all of the email addresses on screen. Neat, right?

A little nuance with Google is that it usually doesn’t show everything all at once, it drip feeds search results in small batches. Annoying. But, we have technology. To display all of the content on a Google page faster, you can take an extra step and add uAutoPagerize to your Chrome browser. That will automatically display all “unloaded” content. Now, when you click on Email Extractor it should have way more results. Booya.

Take this more as a building block than a step by step guide.  Be creative with your Boolean strings so you can get results that are different from other people. The more refined your search, the more likely you’re going to source developer emails that haven’t been bothered into oblivion.

Happy hunting!

The impact AI has had in the recruiting industry is getting ridiculous. With AI curating lists of potential hires and recruiting emails being crafted by AI, you have to ask…was this article written by a computer? Who even knows anymore. But one of the fantastic things about technologies like these: they can get even better. Now, spoken word queries can be saved, reused, and easily modified with the official ChatGPT Chrome Extension.

If you’re having trouble generating email copy for your recruiting sends, then look no further. This extension adds a zillion different pre-built options for generating content, but luckily it has some email options in there as well. Furthermore, you can customize and tailor exactly what you want the AI to produce if whatever template you’re using isn’t exactly to your liking.

the ChatGPT Chrome extension has a few other neat features. You can tailor the list to your liking with the favorites section, so you can at-a-glance get access to your most frequently used options. However, there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to generating content. It uses tags and other features to allow you to make sure it generates unique content every time. There’s forums, FAQ’s, and all sorts of resources so you can fully take advantage of these features.

Give it a try! If you put a little effort into making your own curated prompts you could save yourself countless hours of work.

When it comes to software developers, GitHub is the holy grail of geeks. Everyone who’s anyone is on this platform, and a site you probably frequent if you’re hiring a computer wiz. Want a way to check these developer’s GitHub activity? Then here’s the sauce.

GitHub makes it somewhat straightforward to tell user activity, but there’s a better way. With OSS Insight, you have a clean one page dashboard of all the recent repo updates, pulls and pushes, and everything else in-between. This makes chugging through developer’s GitHub activity extremely painless, to the point where you can tell within seconds just how active this coder is.

There are some other niche features like GPT powered data exploration. It lets you request data in natural language and spits out a very intelligent answer. It can even generate SQL from the dataset. If you have a detailed enough request, you could use this to headhunt active developers in a specific field. The search feature is VERY powerful, give it a try.

You can also explore trending data. If you want to see what sort of code is hot right now, it’s a great place to start. It tracks all sorts of metrics on GitHub, far more than the average person might need.

This tool has a myriad of uses, we really recommend you take a look and see if it’s something you can add to your workflow.

With AI reaching new heights in conversational prowess, written language, and even art…it’s no surprise that using ChatGPT for Boolean is quite effective. And, it can do it well. The power of AI is reaching such great heights that we have to ask: how much longer until the AI powered friend for us antisocial sourcers??

Having your own smart little monster to boss around can get pretty addicting. ChatGPT‘s ability to interpret even the loosest of commands is quite fascinating.  You could ask it something along the lines of “write boolean for finding software engineers in denver, co” and it will fill in the rest. It’s quite capable at handling more complex commands as well, with a few caveats.

It doesn’t know all of the industry terminology, like for example it has no idea what it means to Xray. But, you can say site search or something coloquial and it can handle that just fine. There are some nuances like that, but you can pretty much “spoken language” your way through the entire string.

Have fun using ChatGPT for boolean, and let us know what works or what doesn’t. While recruiters and sourcers won’t be replaced any time soon, we all are feeling some strong winds of change blowing. We’re sure the world is going to be seeing a lot more of this technology…for better or for worse.

Hello, fellow creeps! Having trouble locking down those elusive contacts of yours? If you’re struggling to slap an email on to your incomplete info cards, then you’ve come to the right place…assuming you at least have their internet handle.  So, step into our office and we’ll give you the rundown on how to do sneaky but free contact enrichment to jigsaw together those elusive partials.

We are simple beasts at heart.  I’d be genuinely shocked if someone told me they had a unique login name for every one of their online accounts. Besides it being incredibly weird, it’s also a hassle. Nobody has time for that. We all use the same name as frequently as possible, dont lie. But, that’s where the “creature of habit” mentality can be exploited (muahaha).

Say you find a juicy lead off twitter, and want to find their email address…what’s a sourcer to do? Plug that twitter handle into WhatsMyName and see what the cat drags in.  It will scour the far reaches of the internet for any and all references to that phrase. We’re talking social media sites and everything under the digital sun.

If they have a custom URL made for their LinkedIn, it should appear there. If they happen to be a software engineer of some kind, GitHub is a fantastic social platform for tracking emails as well. Their email (if they did not choose to hide it) will be under their profile image on their account page.

There are a few other social media accounts that have public facing email addresses, but for the most part LinkedIn and GitHub will be your holy water.  This sort of methodology is what a lot of sourcers live for: the dopamine rush of finally tracking someone down.

Best of luck hunting.

Swordfish has traditionally been a great platform and browser extension for accumulating phone numbers, but they’ve recently expanded their platform to even greater heights. Phone numbers have their place in sourcing, but with how Gen-Z feels about answering their phones…it’s probably not a bad idea to branch out into other forms of contact. With their new sourcing interface dubbed Prospector, sourcing with Swordfish has become a reality.

So what does this platform bring to the table? There’s a decent amount of filters to narrow your search such as experience levels, past job titles, and even company headcount. You can also use their reverse search section to look up a contact based on limited information. This reverse lookup feature can definitely can go toe-to-toe with other contact enrichment platforms.

They’re expanding the feature list to include radius searches, custom boolean strings, and more features to stand out from the crowd. While this platform has been around for a while, sourcing with swordfish is still in its early stages.  They released their contact finding tool in the same fashion and built it into something quite notable, so there’s great potential for them to do the same here.

We’re looking forward to seeing their sourcing tool Prospector grow over the next few months. If you don’t already have an account, when you sign up there will be some free credits to let you play around.

There are a lot of benefits to knowing the hierarchy of an organization. Yes, you could browse LinkedIn and do a bit of digging to uncover the web of roles, but that takes time and effort. Why build a company hierarchy manually when it’s already been done for you? This is the use case of B2B Search, an easy to use free site that can give you the run-down about a company with minimal effort.

At a glance, this site can very quickly help you understand who the heavy hitters in a company are, and how many people directly report to them.  With this information, you could very easily grasp important roles in these companies to set yourself up for success in a couple of key ways. Whether you just took a company on as a new client and want a fast and easy debrief, or you’re trying to figure out how important of a guy Brad from accounting is, this could solve all that…and fast.

Nymeria has been a great platform for contact finding and enrichment in the past, but as of today they just laterally expanded to include search capabilities. This brings Nymeria in line with the big dogs of the industry, turning it more into a “one stop shop” suite for all things sourcing.

Being one of the better tools out there for contact finding, it was kind of a no-brainer for them to expand into the people search game.  Their Chrome Extension is also a great tool for enriching contact information on social platforms. Sometimes you’ll have someone’s LinkedIn but want to get their work email, and if you’re on the page and click the extension it will find all associated social profiles, phone numbers and emails.

Note that this is a paid service, so with every paid tool we recommend you try it out yourself using the free trial and make your own decisions about it. Check out their people search capabilities and tell us what you think! We love getting a pulse check from the community about the good, bad, and ugly for platforms like this.

When it comes down to it, you have a lot of options for enterprise level sourcing suites, so it’s good to know that other organizations are punching their way into this space. Competition usually begets innovation and drives down costs for us sourcers, so this is a win for us even if you choose not to use it.

As a recruiter, you sometimes are tasked with some lofty, high level requisitions. Whether or not you’re already familiar with the process of hunting a unicorn, Dean Da Costa has a few tricks up his sleeve he’d like to show you. With some skill and luck we’ll help you hunt down these mythical executive emails.

It’s more complicated than just shopping around CEO Action, as C-level emails are a bit hard to come by.  So, the real question is: what do you actually do with this fragmented information to get an email address? That’s where some creativity comes into play.

The Process

So, we know two things: their company and their full names. Seems like a long shot, right? Well, luckily corporate email addresses mostly all follow the same conventions. As long as you know their unique format we can take an educated guess.

Email-format.com is a great place to start. There are hundreds of sites like this, but we like that this one shows the most likely formats. Once you figure out the conventions, you can plug it into email-checker.net/validate to verify if the mailbox is available. Boom, executive email sourced.

If you get the green light, try sending them a thoughtful, personalized email. Remember, these people are busy and anything that sounds generic is gonna get ghosted, dumpstered, or even worse..flagged as a promotion.

It’s hard to find a halfway decent employee, never mind one to fill the biggest shoes in the company. If you’ve been tasked with this…best of luck, God’s speed, and may the source be with you.

Dean Da Costa loves saving time at all costs. Optimizing his workflow is Dean’s passion, and he wants to share a tidbit with you on how to source social media accounts faster. When you do something a million times a day, every little step can help. Social Friend Finder removes some of the annoyances of hunting down a particular person.

Basically, this app takes your query and filters a search for only socials. It’s more than likely just constraining your search with some straightforward boolean phrases, but it gets the job done quite effectively.  There’s not a whole lot to be said about this service, other than it gives you a quick and straightforward way to source social media accounts with the push of a button.

The chrome extension, while helpful, isn’t strictly necessary to use this search function. Their main search page does the same thing if you don’t want to bother with having YET ANOTHER extension bloating your browser bar. We get it, the sourcer’s toolbox only has so much room in it.

In the tutorial, Dean Da Costa goes through a few steps to take advantage of Google Lens as well. If your curiosity is piqued, then you’re in luck! Dean made a video on Google Lens and how to take advantage of their tasty Reverse Image Search features.

We love that the industry is gravitating towards a more equitable and honest display of people’s salary. Pay transparency comes with a certain degree of fairness towards both new employees and those already within an organization. Now, tools like Estim8 can leverage this by finding LinkedIn salary information and packaging it into an easy-to-use chrome extension.

As a potential hire, pay transparency comes with the opportunity to negotiate without trying to play a game of battleship. But, as a sourcer, this means you can now find people within your target salary range a hell of a lot easier. Make the Blue Devil turn green by pulling salary information from LinkedIn!

When the pot boils down, nobody’s trying to move to a new company for less money. With tools like Estim8, you don’t have to waste your time on individuals who are already raking in more cash than what you can offer them.

Has this happened to you lately? You get a nibble, start communication, and then have to go back to the drawing board because the candidate already makes 15k more than the role your offering? Well, if you’re trying to find candidates in the tech industry, we recommend pulling LinkedIn salary information with Estim8.

To clarify, at the moment this tool only sources salaries for software engineering roles in the US. They have plans to extend their abilities to other industries so if you aren’t sourcing these positions keep them in mind.
