William Tincup (00:19):
Ladies, gentlemen, this is William Tincup and you are listening to RecruitingDaily’s at Jobbio’s Booth at HR Tech. I have the incomparable Jessica Miller-Merrell, JMM if you know her, with us today. And Jessica, would you first introduce yourself for the audience, please?
Jessica Miller Merrell (00:39):
Absolutely. Thank you for having me. My name is Jessica Miller-Merrell or JMM. I’m the founder of Workology. We are a resource for human resources recruiting and workplace leaders.
William Tincup (00:51):
And you do a wonderful job with re-certifications as well.
Jessica Miller Merrell (00:54):
I do. And I have a new book coming out, published by SHERM on digital recruiting coming out soon-
William Tincup (00:59):
What?
Jessica Miller Merrell (00:59):
… so I’m so excited to be part of the conversation today.
William Tincup (01:03):
So your first book was-
Jessica Miller Merrell (01:05):
On Twitter. It was called Tweet This, a really long time ago.
William Tincup (01:09):
Hey, no, no, no. What’s great about it is you did it like way ahead of people. Way ahead of people. So you were early, early, early. Okay. So I’m going to hand you a magic wand.
Jessica Miller Merrell (01:20):
Okay.
William Tincup (01:21):
This is your magic wand.
Jessica Miller Merrell (01:22):
Mm-hmm. All right. I’m ready.
William Tincup (01:24):
If you could fix anything in talent sourcing, what would you fix?
Jessica Miller Merrell (01:28):
I would fix the engagement messaging that comes after the sourcing, like not canned messages that are just like, “Hey, person and insert name here. Do you want to work here? Or would like to more about our engineering openings when you’re not an engineer?” That’s what I would like to change. I would like to have real engagement and customized messages in sourcing.
William Tincup (01:57):
Highly personalized so that you avoid, I mean, first of all, on both sides, if you view them as commodities, can this view companies as commodities, companies you can assist commodities. And if you can personalize that and you can get rest the volume part, I love that, that’s great stuff.
Jessica Miller Merrell (02:13):
Thank you. That’s what I do.
William Tincup (02:15):
Thank you so much, Jessica.
Jessica Miller Merrell (02:16):
Absolutely. Thank you for having me.
William Tincup (02:17):
Absolutely.
